Workplace learning is offered at Frederick Irwin with the aim of preparing students for successful TAFE entry or careers related to Apprenticeship and Traineeship qualifications.

Students can work towards their WACE (Western Australian Certificate of Education) by completing a nationally recognised VET qualification along with their school courses and an endorsed programme, Workplace Learning (ADWPL).

Frederick Irwin students can complete certificates at school or offsite through TAFE or other reputable RTO’s (Registered Training Organisations).  Some of these offsite courses are funded by government and others are on a fee for service arrangement.

A list of Certificate courses offered on campus and the relevant RTO are listed below.  Offsite course information is available from the VET Office.

All on campus Certificate courses run for two years, except the Certificate II in Sport and Recreation, which is a one year course.

Workplace Learning (ADWPL)

ADWPL is an endorsed program which can contribute credits to a student’s WACE.

Students undertaking a General pathway are encouraged to secure a work placement to enhance apprenticeship opportunities and further their skill set.

ATAR students are also able to undertake placements in holiday times to avoid impacting their studies.

All Upper School students studying a General, Certificate or ATAR course are required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
