Welcome to my inaugural IT Manager article!
With technology now being an integral part of the society we live in, we hope to bring you insights and updates to keep you abreast with changes and innovations in the technology space here at school. We will provide practical help to assist with the safe and effective use of technology in your child’s learning journey. Here are some of the projects we are initiating and some of the services we provide.
Apple Classroom in Year 3 and Year 4
We are excited to implement a new Apple Classroom and iPad trial in our Year 3 and Year 4 classes. Teachers and students will be empowered with training in the use of Apple Classroom to deliver a vibrant learning experience on classroom iPads. The School has committed to the initial phase of the trial with the purchase of 44 new iPads. Thank you to Mr Jonathan Butcher, our Deputy Head of Primary - Meadow Springs Campus, for driving forward this initiative at the Meadow Springs Campus. Mrs Natalie Burbage, Acting Head of Primary - Halls Head Campus, will be supervising this initiative when it commences at our Halls Head Campus.
IT Help Desk
We provide a fully staffed IT Help Desk at both the Meadow Springs and Halls Head Campuses. IT staff are available daily from 8.00am to 4:30pm to provide assistance and advice to all members of the school community on all aspects of the technology used in teaching, learning and communication here at school. Parents and Carers are welcome to call us any time or visit us in person outside of teaching hours at the Meadow Springs Library or Halls Head IT office.
School provided software for students.
Did you know that the school licenses software for students to use at school and at home? The software can be used either on their school BYOD computers or other devices that they may have at home. Here’s a quick list of what is available.
- Microsoft Office 365 Apps for Education: (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Outlook and much more)
- Adobe Creative Cloud Suite: (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, Animate and more)
- Clickview (educational video content to support teaching and learning)
- MineCraft Education Edition
- Canva Pro (professional Graphic design software)
- SchoolTV.me (Wellbeing resources for students and carers)
Students can contact the IT Helpdesk for assistance with installing or using this or any other software.
