Dear Parents and Carers

It is hard to believe that Term 2 has come to an end, and I’m so impressed with our students and the maturity and responsibility they have displayed towards their learning. We are proud and our students should be proud of their achievements.

Community

In Week 3 next term, we will be holding our Book Week dress up parade, which is always so fun and engaging for our students. There will also be some Book Week activities, and these will be communicated with families very soon. We love these community events and encourage everyone to participate. I also encourage all parents who want to be involved in their child’s learning to reach out to the classroom teacher. It is very special having our parents and grandparents in and around our school. We appreciate and value our community so much.

Learning

With the change in weather, it has allowed our Early Years students to engage in our local bush area and nature pedagogy. Learning about our environment and respectful sustainable practices is so important for our students. We have created new outdoor spaces to visit in the bush and it is wonderful seeing our students heading off for exploration each week. The Year 3 and 4 students have also just recently visited Kings Park to engage in this outdoor learning and had a wonderful experience exploring and inquiring.

This inquiry has been going on throughout Upper Primary with our Paper Plane inquiry project. It has been so rewarding to see students collaborating, designing, testing and competing with their creations. I’m so thankful to our amazing staff, who work tirelessly to provide these engaging and creative opportunities for our students. I’m also very thankful for the positive feedback that parents provide and always ensure that our staff receive these compliments as well.

Act, Belong, Commit

On Friday 31 May, our student leaders accompanied Mr Butcher on a Reconciliation Walk at Langley Park. The students were engaged in reflection activities and represented our school maturely. The rest of the Primary students were involved in a Reconciliation assembly, which included Mr Sean Hill speaking to our students about the significance of Reconciliation. Our Kindergarten students presented friendship bracelets to our Year 12 students and then walked together to our native Bush Tucker Garden. It was such a lovely and reflective day for our school, and I thank everyone involved for making the day and event so special.

I hope that everyone can spend some time with their loved ones during this break from school. I’m looking forward to spending time with my own family as well as my leadership team, to plan for a productive and engaging Term 3. For those travelling, I wish safe journeys and look forward to welcoming everyone back for the start of Semester 2.
