Dear Parents and Carers
Community
2024 has flown by and so have the last few weeks of school. My final newsletter is just a recognition of the amazing people that make Frederick Irwin such a special school. I thank our parents so much for their support and working with us to help their children and our students reach their potential. I mentioned this at our end of year assemblies, but it’s important to say it again. Thank you for getting your children to extra rehearsals, sports practices, School events and collaborating with their teachers. Thank you to all our parent volunteers. Thank you as well, for your kind words and constructive feedback. Please know that the complements and affirmations you give me about staff are always passed on. Thank you for the chats I have with parents out in the community. When you are part of the Frederick Irwin community you certainly feel a sense of connectedness. It is a blessing to be leading such a wonderful community and I’m proud of the supportive and compassionate atmosphere we all provide each other.
Staff
I must also thank our amazing staff. As always, our staff have poured their hearts and souls into providing a rewarding learning environment for our students this year. I thank them for being available every morning to check in with parents, for the amazing lessons that they plan and deliver on a daily basis, for the pastoral chats they have with students and for the communication they provide our parents on every student’s development. Creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment doesn’t happen by accident and I want to recognise that absolute commitment from our teachers, education assistants, coordinators, Chaplains and admin officers to make Frederick Irwin Anglican School a welcoming place to work and learn. I truly believe our staff are unmatched and am so happy that they will soon have a well-deserved break.
Students
Our students also deserve a big thank you. Thank you for showing your values every day. Thank you for setting goals each term and working with your teachers and parents to meet these milestones. Thank you for showing kindness to each other and learning from your mistakes. Whether it’s a mistake in your Mathematics lessons or a mistake in how you handled a friendship issue, thank you for learning from these. Mistakes are part of growing up and as long as we use them as lessons, they can be very positive. I know that our students are very excited about Christmas and the School holidays and I spent this morning speaking to every class about having an enjoyable, fun and safe holiday.
Although I will be excited to welcome everyone back in 2025, I know that I will see many families before then. Please don’t hesitate in saying hello, as it makes my day. I too am looking forward to Christmas and the special time with my family. We all cherish these times with our loved ones and I wish our parents, staff and students a Merry Christmas and blessed holiday. 2024 was an amazing year and I believe 2025 will be even better!
