On Tuesday 21 May 2024, students from Year 3 to Year 6 participated in a traditional Indonesian Batik Fan making workshop. All students were thoroughly engaged in learning about the Indonesian culture and making something symbolic.

The workshop was very well presented in an easy-to-follow step by step process by Ibu Rose and Ibu Tasha from the Indonesian Dance Studio. Students used a range of materials consisting of wooden sticks, fabric, glue, and gold paint to complete their batik fans.

By the end of this workshop, students were able to take their fans to take home. Most of the students made good use of their batik fans at break times as they were seen using the fans while out in the sun.

All the children greatly enjoyed participating in the batik fan making workshop and have already started asking to do more hands-on learning activities encompassing the Indonesian culture.
