Dear Parents and Carers
I recently had the pleasure of attending the Year 1 class assembly at Halls Head where 1H presented to everyone on the topic of Bees. It was wonderful to learn so many facts about bees including how many eyes they have, how their wings work and the all important “Waggle Dance” that bees use to communicate with one another and tell their fellow bees where they can find food.
In speaking to the students afterwards I highlighted another important trait that bees demonstrate, and that is Teamwork. Teamwork is an important skill to learn. Teamwork allows us to develop our communication skills, show leadership and help one another. When we work together as a team, we can accomplish tasks quicker and more effectively.
A key element of our Anglican Identity is Character and Service. We want our students to be involved in service to the community and others. We want them to see when people are in need and step in to help them out, either individually or by working as a group.
Teamwork forms a vital part of Service. Our Year 12 Prefects recently presented their House Charities for 2025 and the events that they would like to hold to raise awareness and funds for these worthy causes. These opportunities provide another way for students to work together, helping others, serving their community and developing their teamwork skills.
I encourage all students to seek service opportunities that they can take part in, both in school and outside our gate, to demonstrate teamwork and our core value of Compassion.
Kind regards
Mr Shane Parnell
